Chances are, right after "mama" and "dada" came the words "please" and "thank you." (Or at least, that’s what mama and dada were lobbying for.) Your parents may have even called these "magic words" – selling you on their amazing powers. And, truth be told, you quickly learned they were right. When you spoke them, something remarkable happened: generosity opened its arms to you. And the kicker? Even if they were intended for the benefit of the person you offered them to, they made you feel darn good as well. Then you discovered what happened when your thank-yous were accompanied by thank you flowers
– and it was enough to make "magic" seem almost insufficient.
